The Fabian Garcia Science Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico, is a research and educational facility named after Fabián García, a pioneering Mexican-American horticulturist and plant breeder who significantly contributed to New Mexico's agriculture.

García began his work in the late 1800s and became the first Hispanic director of a land-grant agricultural research station in the United States in 1913. He is renowned for developing new crop varieties suited to the local climate, including the famous New Mexico No. 9 chile and other cultivars of chile peppers, onions, pecans, and cotton. His efforts helped transform the agricultural landscape of the region, making it a vital center for crop research, breeding, and conservation.

García also left a substantial estate to support Hispanic students at New Mexico State University, including funding for scholarships and a dormitory named Fabián García Memorial Hall. The Science Center continues to honor his legacy by providing research facilities and promoting the scientific study of crops vital to New Mexico and beyond.​​
