Forman Christian College (A Chartered University) is a private, nonprofit liberal arts university located on Ferozepur Road in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan, founded in 1864 and officially granted chartered university status by the Government of Punjab on October 12, 2004.
The university is administered by the Presbyterian Church and follows an American-style liberal arts curriculum with English as the medium of instruction, offering a four-year bachelor's degree with majors in 18 academic disciplines, an MBA degree, doctoral programs in various fields, and a five-year Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) professional degree approved by the Pharmacy Council of Pakistan.
Its scenic campus spans 108 to 122 acres on the banks of the Lahore Canal in the heart of Lahore, providing a safe, quiet, and green environment for academic and personal growth, with university housing capabilities for more than 1,800 students. The university has a student population of approximately 9,000 students including 4,963 undergraduates and 754 graduate students, with over 250 full-time faculty members including more than 150 PhDs, and the majority of both faculty and students are Muslim working alongside Christian faculty and students in an atmosphere of mutual respect, making FCCU a model of interfaith harmony and a "mini Pakistan" embodying the nation's diversity.
The college was historically significant as the first college in the Punjab and the entire subcontinent to admit women in 1902, and its laboratories conducted Nobel Prize-caliber research work, with Dr. Arthur Compton receiving the Nobel Prize in 1932 for research conducted largely at FCCU.
