Fossesholm Mansion is a historic manor house located in Vestfossen, Norway, with roots tracing back to the Middle Ages when it became a major estate under nobleman Peder Hansen in 1541, focusing on large-scale sawmill production and timber export to Europe. In the 1760s, merchant Jørgen von Cappelen acquired it and rebuilt it into a grand rococo-style wooden mansion nearly 50 meters long, featuring European classicist details adapted to Norwegian timber, hand-painted decorations by artist Eric Gustaf Tunmarck, and imported wall-hangings in its ceremonial rooms. After economic decline post-Napoleonic Wars led to its auction in 1822, it operated as farms until 1973 when Eiker Historical Society purchased and restored it as a museum showcasing 18th-century interiors, a home front exhibit, handicraft shop, and seasonal events.
