Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Columbus, Ohio, opened in 1895 as a grand Victorian-style glasshouse and has since grown into a premier horticultural institution.

It features the historic Palm House—a steel and glass structure listed on the National Register of Historic Places—along with multiple biomes that replicate global ecosystems such as tropical rainforests, deserts, and the Himalayan Mountains.

The conservatory showcases over 400 plant species, seasonal displays, a bonsai courtyard, orchid collections, and Dale Chihuly’s famous glass artworks. It sits within the 88-acre Franklin Park, which originally hosted county and state fairs before becoming a city park. In 1992, the conservatory gained international attention by hosting AmeriFlora, a major horticultural event.

Today, it offers educational programs, special exhibitions, community gardens, and event spaces, making it a vibrant cultural and botanical center for both locals and visitors.
