Frauenstein in the Harz region near Osterode am Harz refers to a medieval castle ruin on a prominent rock close to the town of Frauenstein in the Harz foothills of Lower Saxony, Germany.

It was built around the early 13th century as a small hilltop stronghold and served as a local noble seat, later falling into decline and being largely abandoned by the 16th century, after which it gradually decayed into the partial ruin visible today.

The site features surviving wall fragments and the remains of a tower, with the castle’s position offering sweeping views over the surrounding countryside and the town below. Today the ruins are mainly a quiet, open‑air heritage spot used for short walks and historical interest rather than a fully restored tourist complex.
