Freights Bay is a small, sheltered bay on the south coast of Barbados, just above the fishing village of Oistins and near the southern tip of the island.
It is best known as a gentle, beginner‑friendly surf spot thanks to its long, rolling left‑hand wave over a mostly sandy and reef bottom, with offshore winds that keep the faces clean and manageable. The area has a tiny beach accessed by steps, no lifeguards or formal facilities, and is popular with surf schools and learners between November and April when conditions are most consistent.
Above the bay there are grassy cliff‑top benches and landscaped space, making it a pleasant spot to watch the waves and enjoy sunset views over turquoise water.
