Ganjali Khan Complex
Kerman County in Kerman Province, Iran
The Ganjali Khan Complex in Kerman, Iran, is a large Safavid-era architectural ensemble built between 1596 and 1621 under the governance of Ganj Ali Khan. Designed by architect Mohammad Soltani from Yazd, the complex covers 11,000 square meters and features a range of structures including a mosque, caravanserai, bathhouse, school, water reservoir (Ab Anbar), mint, bazaar, and a central square.
The complex was designed in the elegant Isfahani style and played a key role in the social, commercial, and cultural life of Kerman during the Safavid period. Notably, the bathhouse is famous for its intricate tilework and frescoes, while the square is beautifully landscaped with symmetrical gardens and a central pond, embodying traditional Iranian architectural principles.
Although some structures were damaged during later invasions, the complex remains one of Kerman's most important historical landmarks and a vivid symbol of Safavid architectural achievement.
