Garden of Dreams
Kathmandu, Nepal
The Garden of Dreams in Kathmandu, Nepal, is a beautifully restored neo-classical garden originally built in the 1920s by Field Marshal Kaiser Sumsher Rana. Designed by architect Kishore Narshingh, it spans about 6,895 square meters and features European-inspired elements such as pavilions, fountains, pergolas, urns, and decorative garden furniture.
The garden is uniquely structured around six pavilions, each symbolizing one of Nepal’s six seasons, blending Edwardian-style landscaping with cultural symbolism. After years of neglect following Kaiser Sumsher's death, the garden was restored between 2000 and 2007 with help from the Austrian government, bringing back its tranquil beauty amidst Kathmandu’s busy city life.
Today, it serves as a peaceful oasis for visitors, offering shaded walkways, lush flora, and a charming mix of historical elegance and natural serenity. R
