Giardino Botanico delle Alpi Orientali

The Giardino Botanico delle Alpi Orientali is a 6.25‑hectare alpine botanical garden and integral nature reserve on Monte Faverghera (Alpe del Nevegal) near Belluno, Italy, positioned between about 1,400 and 1,600 meters where limestone ridges, bogs, pastures and cliffs form varied alpine habitats.

Established in the mid‑20th century to represent and protect the spontaneous flora of the Eastern Alps and Pre‑Alps, it now preserves roughly 700–800 plant species—both wild and cultivated—including several regional endemics and rare alpine specialists used for study and conservation.

The site is managed as a protected reserve by the regional biodiversity authorities (Carabinieri Biodiversity unit / Corpo Forestale heritage), offers a network of easy trails that let visitors view distinct habitats and displays, and provides seasonal guided walks and educational activities during the warmer months.
