Verified Giardino Botanico Marzana

Verona, Province of Verona, Italy, Italy

The Giardino Botanico Marzana, also called the Giardino Officinale di Marzana, is a municipal medicinal and educational garden set on a gentle hillside a few kilometres from Verona that occupies about six hectares of estate with roughly one hectare (5,000 m²) dedicated to the formal botanical collection.

The garden was created by local authorities in the late 20th century and is now managed by a nonprofit foundation; it combines over 300 species of aromatic, officinal and pharmaceutical plants—both cultivated and spontaneous—alongside vineyards, an olive grove, fruit trees and beehives used for practical demonstrations of apiculture.

The site includes an educational farm with small domestic animals, didactic paths and outdoor shelters for visitors and school groups, and it runs workshops and guided activities on plant uses, cultivation and the life cycle of bees to support regional environmental education. Visitor access is generally by prior arrangement or during scheduled opening hours for groups and school visits, with modest or donation-based entry to support maintenance and educational programming.
