Created in 1938 by Professor Augusto Rinaldi Ceroni, who was then director of the local agricultural school, the garden was inaugurated in 1975. It hosts around 450 species of herbal plants used historically in cooking, medicine, and cosmetics, similar to the gardens of medieval convents.

The garden is part of the museum circuit of the Ravenna province and offers visitors a tranquil environment to explore a rich variety of aromatic herbs, admire seasonal blooms like lavender in June, and experience culinary and therapeutic traditions associated with these plants. It also features artisanal products like handmade jams made from garden herbs, enhancing its cultural and botanical appeal.​
