Gödersheim Castle
Nideggen, Germany, Germany
Gödersheim Castle near Nideggen in Germany's Rhineland-Palatinate is a ruined late Gothic water castle in the Neffelbach valley, first mentioned in 1343 and owned by the Gödersheim family, later passing to figures like Johann von Vlatten.
Once featuring a moated outer bailey with a gatehouse, simple main building, and a round tower, only remnants survive today after centuries of decay and flood damage, with the gatehouse adapted into a residence in 1950.
Protected as a historic monument since 1993, recent efforts have stabilized it against further ruin, preserving its quiet, overgrown site amid the Eifel landscape.
