Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vermont, was a private liberal arts college founded in 1834 originally as Troy Conference Academy. It was affiliated with the United Methodist Church and historically served as a women’s college before becoming coeducational in 1974.

The college focused heavily on environmental studies and sustainability, offering undergraduate liberal arts education along with some graduate degrees. Over its history, it transitioned from a junior college for women to a four-year institution with environmental literacy as a core part of its curriculum from the 1990s onward. Despite efforts to sustain operations, Green Mountain College closed at the end of the 2018–19 academic year due to financial difficulties.

After closing, its students were given options to complete their education at Prescott College in Arizona, which also specializes in environmental studies. The campus was sold in 2020 and has been repurposed since then. During its operation, the college was known for its picturesque rural location near the Taconic and Green Mountains and its commitment to ecological education.
