Gut Deutsch-Nienhof - Verwaltung
Westensee, Germany, Germany
Gut Deutsch-Nienhof is a historic noble estate in Westensee, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, first mentioned in 1472 as "Nyenhov" and originally developed by the Ahlefeldt family in the 15th century.
In the early 16th century, the Rantzau family built a three-winged moated castle there, which formed the foundation for the current classical manor house reshaped in the late 18th century and later renovated inside in Art Nouveau style around 1907-1909 by Paul von Hedemann-Heespen.
Owned continuously by the von Hedemann-Heespen family since 1743, it spans a large landscape park with ancient trees, focuses on sustainable forestry across beech and mixed woodlands, grows organic wine, and welcomes visitors with a farm shop, café, guided tours, and vacation rentals.
