Verified Gut Falkenberg

Lürschau, Germany

Gut Falkenberg is a historic estate located in Lürschau, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, situated between the Schlei fjord and the Lürschauer forest.

The estate is founded on the site called "Ruhekrug," which historically served as an old resting place along the ancient Ochsenweg trade route. The current manor house was built between 1796 and 1804 in a classical architectural style by architect Carl Gottlob Horn under the commission of Danish Generalmajor Count Heinrich von Reventlou.

The estate integrates remnants of a 10th-century bishop's castle, reflecting its long strategic importance in the region. The interiors feature wall paintings by Italian artist Giuseppe Anselmo Pellica. Following the Danish-Prussian conflicts in the mid-19th century, the manor was expanded into a hunting lodge under King Friedrich VII of Denmark, whose monogram still adorns the estate gate.

Today, Gut Falkenberg is a private residence managed by the von Samson-Himmelstjerna family and features historic buildings converted partly into apartments and guest accommodations, set amid a large park with ancient trees and scenic meadows, offering a peaceful retreat in the North German countryside.
