Gut Güldenstein
Harmsdorf, Germany, Germany
Gut Güldenstein is a historic manor estate in Harmsdorf, eastern Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, originating from a medieval moated castle and established as a proper estate in the first half of the 16th century through division from the now-lost Gut Gneningen.
It passed through noble families including Sehested until 1608, Pogwisch until 1632, Ahlefeld until 1701, and Thienen, who built the current baroque manor house around 1726 by architect Rudolph Matthias Dallin, featuring a symmetrical red-brick facade on an oval island with white stucco details and protruding wings.
Later owned by Rantzau from 1779 and acquired in 1839 by the Grand Dukes of Oldenburg, it remains in the House of Oldenburg's possession as a key example of Holstein's baroque architecture, protected as a monument and serving as a ducal residence amid natural surroundings near the Baltic Sea.
