Gut Marienthal
Goosefeld, Germany, Germany
Gut Marienthal is a historic manor estate on the southern edge of Goosefeld in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, constructed between 1719 and 1721 by Otto von Qualen on the site of the abandoned medieval village Alt-Goosefeld as a meierhof outpost of Gut Windeby, honoring his late mother Maria von Qualen.
Elevated to full aristocratic Gut status by 1806 after sale in 1793, it shaped local life with tied serfs until abolition in 1805, leading to the 1928 formation of Marienthal municipality—renamed Goosefeld in 1973 as village life shifted from the estate.
Today one of two remaining active farms alongside Hoffnungsthal, it produces biogas via Bioenergie Marienthal GmbH & Co. KG amid the area's transition to residential use.
