Gut Neumark
Neumark, Saxony, Germany, Germany
Gut Neumark is a historic Rittergut (knightly estate) in the village of Neumark, Vogtland district, Saxony, Germany, with roots tracing back to a fortified site first mentioned around 1150 and a castle existing by the 14th century.
Destroyed in the 1354 Vogtland War, it was rebuilt starting in 1636 by Jobst Christoph von Römer after he acquired the burned ruins, with the current four-winged manor house taking shape over the next two decades under the von Römer family, who held it continuously for centuries.
Expanded agriculturally between 1825-1840 and managed by figures like Julius von Römer until 1923, it was expropriated in 1945, converted to a state farm focusing on sheep breeding during the GDR era, and revived post-reunification as a modern organic farm, shop, and event venue preserving its Baroque architecture amid scenic countryside.
