Gut Schierensee
Schierensee, Germany, Germany
Gut Schierensee is a historic aristocratic manor estate in the village of Schierensee, Rendsburg-Eckernförde district, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, first documented in 1470 when sold by the von Ahlefeld family to Bordesholm Monastery amid prehistoric settlement traces nearby.
Originally featuring a small water castle shown around 1580 on the Rantzau Tafel under owner Peter Rantzau, it passed through hands like Peter Marquard von Gude before Caspar von Saldern purchased it in 1752, building the current baroque-classicist Herrenhaus from 1776-1782 by architect Johann Adam Richter and creating an innovative landscape garden on Heeschenberg.
Owned later by the Mesmer-Saldern, Baudissin, Axel Springer, and since 1997 the Günther-Fielmann-Stiftung, it remains actively farmed today.
