It dates back to the 12th century and was originally a Wendish noble stronghold known as Syra. Over the centuries, it has been owned by several noble families, including the Buchwaldt family, the Dernath counts, the Brockdorff family, and since 1809, the Scheel-Plessen family. The estate is characterized by its medieval architecture, surrounded by water and old trees, and includes a notable garden area known for its plant cultivation and an orangery.

Today, Gut Sierhagen operates as a modern agricultural estate while retaining its historical charm. It hosts events, including weddings and cultural festivals like the Ambienta Spring Festival.

The estate also features a popular Palm House Café offering homemade cakes in a stylish setting, with terraces overlooking the gardens.
