Haneburg
Leer, Germany, Germany
Haneburg is a two‑winged red‑brick noble house in the historic center of the East Frisian town of Leer in Lower Saxony, Germany, set at the end of the chestnut‑lined Haneburgallee.
It was originally built in 1570 as a herrenhaus for the Frese lords and later expanded in the late 16th century under Count Drosten Joest Hane, who added a southern wing in Renaissance style that harmonizes with other East Frisian Renaissance residences such as Schloss Gödens.
The complex fits into the predominantly Dutch‑influenced townscape of Leer and is today home to the town’s adult‑education college (Volkshochschule), while preserving its historic façade, inner courtyard, and characteristic gables as a notable late‑Renaissance landmark in the region.
