Hasselburg
Germany, Germany
Hasselburg is a historic manor estate in Altenkrempe, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, originating from a late medieval fortified manor house surrounded by moats, first mentioned in 1433 and evolving through ownership by noble families like Buchwald.
Between 1711 and 1763, it was transformed into a symmetrical Baroque complex featuring a two-story main house with illusionistic ceiling paintings, two barns including Germany's largest preserved thatched one (72 by 24 meters), two cavalier houses, and a grand gatehouse designed by Georg Greggenhofer—one of the largest in the region.
Today, it serves as a cultural center hosting Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival events, with renovated historic buildings offering holiday apartments and guest rooms amid scenic surroundings between the Baltic Sea and Holstein Switzerland Nature Park.
