Haus Bamenohl
Finnentrop, Germany, Germany
Haus Bamenohl is a historic castle in Bamenohl, part of Finnentrop in North Rhine-Westphalia's Sauerland region, Germany, first documented in 1324 under the von Hundem family and later owned by the von Heygen through marriage.
Its thick stone walls and cellar vaults suggest a 14th-century origin, with a chapel noted by 1362; expansions in 1647 added an eastern wing, and major renovations in 1851 transformed it into a true castle-like structure now held by the von Plettenberg family.
Nestled on a hill at 242 meters elevation amid an idyllic park, the six-story medieval fortress served post-WWII as refugee housing and a retirement home before full restoration by 2006, today hosting weddings, events, and tours.
