Haus Loburg
Coesfeld, Germany, Germany
Haus Loburg near Coesfeld in Germany's Münsterland region is a moated manor house built between 1550 and 1560 by the Westphalian noble family von Graes, with roots possibly tracing to Charlemagne's era.
Nearly destroyed in a 1945 bombing raid while serving as a hospital—with only the west wing's cellar surviving—it was rebuilt from 1946 to 1949 as a two-story Renaissance-style brick structure featuring stepped gables and stone accents.
Acquired in 1912 by Prince Alfred zu Salm-Salm for his son Franz, it remains the private residence of their descendants, including Prinzessin Sophia zu Salm-Salm, who operates a farm shop with local produce opposite the estate.
