Heidenburg in Kreimbach‑Kaulbach is an archaeological site and low‑key tourist spot on the summit of the Kreimberg, about 390 meters above sea level, near the village of Kreimbach‑Kaulbach in the Kusel district of Rhineland‑Palatinate, Germany. The name “Heidenburg” refers to an ancient hilltop fortification site that began as a Celtic refuge with a circular rampart around the 4th century BC, later replaced or overlaid by a Roman mountain fort after about 260 AD, as shown by numerous local finds now displayed in nearby museums. In the 19th century the local Heideburgverein built a small stone lookout tower using blocks from the Roman ruins, so modern visitors mostly see this historicist tower and some traces of the old ramparts, along with a panoramic view over the surrounding Lauter valley and forests rather than a preserved castle in the usual sense.
