Herrenhaus Goldenbow
Vellahn, Germany, Germany
Herrenhaus Goldenbow is one of the oldest manor houses in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, located on the edge of the village of Goldenbow in the municipality of Vellahn, Landkreis Ludwigslust-Parchim.
Built in 1696 by Kurt Freiherr von Lützow as a two-story brick structure possibly designed as a water castle on the foundations of an earlier knight's seat, it features a high hipped roof, inscribed mottos like "Omnia ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam," and 19th-century additions such as decorative gables and a nearby water tower.
The estate, tied to ancient history with nearby prehistoric graves and a medieval motte castle, fell into ruin after post-WWII land reforms and LPG use but was rescued from demolition in 2005, with private owners from Hamburg beginning restoration around 2008–2010, recreating its Baroque elements amid a park, pond, and preserved grounds.
