Herrenhaus Hoyerswort
Oldenswort, Germany, Germany
Herrenhaus Hoyerswort is the only surviving Renaissance manor house in the Eiderstedt region of Oldenswort, Nordfriesland, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, built around 1580-1594 by Staller Caspar Hoyer on an ancient Warft mound inhabited since Roman imperial times.
This two-winged brick structure with an octagonal stair tower and heart-shaped anchor "C H 1564" is surrounded by double moats, featuring a sandstone portal dated 1594, a grand dance hall added circa 1620, and later additions like a Haubarg barn relocated in 1779.
Granted full knight's estate rights in 1587 and owned by the Hamkens family from 1771 for over 240 years of dairy farming, it now operates as a museum with guided tours, a café, and ceramics workshop showcasing Eiderstedt's history in a fairy-tale marshland setting.
