Herrenhaus Trebitz
Bad Schmiedeberg, Germany, Germany
Herrenhaus Trebitz is a historic castle complex in Trebitz, part of Bad Schmiedeberg in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, first documented around 965/1004 as a Burgward fortress securing the middle Elbe region under Emperor Otto I against Slavic incursions.
Evolving from a medieval administrative center through ownership by the County of Brehna until 1290 and later Kursachsen, it became a princely residence granted city status, marked by church tower coats of arms showing Saxon symbols and the Reichserzmarschall's crossed swords.
Transitioning through noble owners, it housed Dr. Moses's clinic from 1930 until 1940 wartime nationalization as an Ostarbeiter hospital, then served post-WWII as an elderly care home for expellees before becoming a private residence since 2002.
