Originally a bishopric property of Schleswig, the Gut passed through noble families including von der Wisch, Wonsfleth, Wensin, Reventlow (1723-1772), and Ahlefeldts before reaching the Preetz monastery convent in 1858.
Today, it anchors a quiet coastal community of about 750 residents with sandy beaches, camping, forests like Jägermaaß, and modern administrative oversight within the Schlei-Ostsee office.
