Holiday Valley Resort in Ellicottville, New York, opened in the winter of 1957-58 and is a prominent ski and year-round resort that has grown significantly since its inception. Founded by a group including Dick Congdon, John Fisher, and Bill Northrup, the resort started with four ski runs and a T-bar lift.

The sport of organized skiing in Ellicottville dates back to the 1930s, pioneered by early skiing enthusiasts and clubs. Today, Holiday Valley features 60 slopes distributed over four mountain faces with a 750-foot vertical drop and 13 lifts, catering to skiers of all levels.

Beyond skiing, the resort offers four terrain parks, night skiing, and a lively après-ski scene in the village of Ellicottville, which includes shops, restaurants, and pubs. During warmer months, the resort transforms into an all-season destination with amenities such as an 18-hole golf course, mountain biking trails, an aerial adventure park, and a mountain coaster that provides thrilling rides through the wooded landscape.
