The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center is a 155-acre urban nature sanctuary located in Memorial Park, just west of downtown Houston, Texas. Established in 1967, it was among the first nature education facilities in Texas and continues to provide environmental education to over 10,000 children and reach more than 600,000 visitors annually.
The arboretum features five miles of trails through diverse habitats including forest, prairie, wetland, and woodland, with specialty gardens like the Hummingbird & Butterfly Island and Sensory Garden. The Nature Center offers interactive exhibits, live animals, and educational programs for all ages, serving as an outdoor classroom and peaceful retreat.
