Hundertwasser's Green Citadel of Magdeburg is a vibrant, ecologically inspired mixed-use complex designed by Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser as his final architectural project, completed in 2005 after his 2000 death, replacing a drab East German prefab building on Breiter Weg near the city's Cathedral Square.

Featuring undulating walls, colorful ceramic mosaics, golden onion domes, irregular "dancing" windows granting residents creative freedom, rooftop gardens with "tree tenants," and curved interiors rejecting straight lines, it embodies Hundertwasser's vision of architecture harmonizing humans, nature, and individuality.

Housing 55 apartments, shops, a hotel, daycare, theater, and café, this pink-hued "oasis" contrasts Magdeburg's Gothic cathedral and now stands as a beloved city icon drawing visitors to its sustainable, playful design.
