Il Castelluccio, also known as the Castle of Battipaglia, is a medieval hilltop fortress overlooking the city of Battipaglia in the Campania region of southern Italy.

Built around the 11th century, likely on the remains of an even older defensive structure, it occupied a strategic position controlling routes through the Sele and Tusciano valleys. Originally constructed for military defense, the castle was later transformed into a noble residence and underwent several renovations over the centuries.

Its towers, stone walls, and commanding location have made it one of the most recognizable landmarks in the area. Today, Il Castelluccio is considered a symbol of Battipaglia’s history and heritage. Perched above the surrounding landscape, it offers impressive views and remains an important reminder of the region’s medieval past.
