Immenstedt
Germany, Germany
Immenstedt is a small rural municipality in Nordfriesland district, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, located northeast of Husum on the southern bank of the Arlau river amid geest landscape, high moor, and the protected Immenstedter Wald beech forest.
First mentioned in the 13th century as Imming, it featured Gut Immenstedt—a ducal hunting lodge built in 1590 by the Dukes of Gottorf and demolished in 1712—within the Danish Duchy of Schleswig's Schwesing parish until Prussian annexation in 1864.
After the 1934 dissolution of Schwesing parish, Immenstedt became independent, today serving about 680 residents with farming, the B200 highway, and bus links to Husum while preserving its quiet marsh-edge heritage.
