Verified International Peace Gardens

Utah, United States

The International Peace Gardens in Salt Lake City, Utah, is an 11-acre botanical garden located in Jordan Park along the Jordan River.

It was conceived in 1939 by Mrs. Otto Wiesley, chair of the Salt Lake Council of Women, as a symbol of peace, cultural understanding, and democracy. World War II delayed its dedication until 1952. The garden features 28 sections, each representing a different country with native plants, garden architecture, and statues reflecting their culture.

Notable sculptures include the bust of Mahatma Gandhi and a replica of the Danish Little Mermaid statue. The gardens offer wheelchair-accessible walking paths and host cultural events like the Swedish Summer Frolic and the Norwegian Independence Day parade, making it a place for peaceful reflection and global unity.
