Jagdschloss Rehefeld
Germany, Germany
Jagdschloss Rehefeld is a historic hunting lodge in Rehefeld-Zaunhaus, a district of Altenberg in Saxony, Germany, built in 1870-1871 by Crown Princess Carola of Saxony as a Christmas gift for her husband, Crown Prince Albert, during the Franco-Prussian War.
Featuring a three-story tower, a cavaliers' house, and scenic views over the Wilde Weißeritz river near a ski area, it served the Saxon royal family for hunting until 1918, was later sold to a Freemasons' group in 1924, repurchased by the royals in 1935, converted into an exclusive hunting hotel, and used as a hospital during World War II.
After nationalization in 1945, it functioned as a holiday home, police training center until 2003, and was auctioned to a private owner in 2023 for restoration, remaining a protected landmark today.
