Jardín Botánico de Villa Beuca
Italy, Italy
The Jardín Botánico de Villa Beuca, known as Orto Botanico di Villa Beuca, is a 34,000 square meter botanical garden in Beuca, Cogoleto, in Italy's Liguria region near Genoa, perched on a terrace about 100 meters above the sea close to the Beigua Regional Natural Park.
Created in 2002 by the Municipality of Cogoleto on the western slope of Beuca hill, it showcases Ligurian flora through themed sectors including a didactic area for exotic plants, a large Ligurian habitat zone with marine cliffs, Mediterranean scrub, woodlands, cultivated olives and vines, wetlands, and a natural shrub-covered slope.
Highlights feature native species like chestnut, holm oak, butcher's broom, lavender, rosemary, and wild herbs such as thyme and oregano, with public access by appointment on Saturdays, guided tours for groups, and a small admission fee, though some sources note it as permanently closed.
