Jugendburg Ludwigstein near Witzenhausen in Germany is a 15th-century castle built in 1415 by Landgrave Ludwig I of Hesse as a border fortress overlooking the Werra River, serving first as an administrative center and later as a sheepfold before falling into ruin by the late 19th century.

In the early 20th century, the German youth movement—Wandervögel and others—rediscovered and rebuilt it around 1920 as a memorial to their 7,000 fallen in World War I, transforming it into a youth hostel and spiritual hub that houses the Archive of the German Youth Movement.

Today, the imposing site with its 25-meter tower offers nearly 200 beds, 14 halls, an indoor pool, sauna, and event spaces for groups, seminars, weddings, and up to 15,000 annual visitors amid the scenic Geo-Naturpark Frau-Holle-Land.
