Klixbüll
Germany, Germany
Klixbüll is a rural municipality in Nordfriesland district, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, straddling the transition from the Lecker Geest ridge to the North Frisian marshlands near Niebüll.
First mentioned around 1300 in church records and documented in 1352, it grew as a marsh-edge village protected by the Risummoor until the Gotteskoog dike was built in 1566, featuring the Romanesque St. Nikolaus Church from circa 1100—a key parish church around 1460—with flood marks from the 1532 Allerheiligenflut and 1634 Burchardiflut on its tower.
The village's oldest structure is the core of former Gut Klixbüllhof on a hill by the church, along a historic outer dike now traced by the B199 highway, preserving its agricultural heritage amid green fields.
