Kniepsand is Europe's largest bathing beach, located on the North Frisian island of Amrum in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, on the North Sea coast.

This extraordinary 15-kilometer-long and up to 1.5-kilometer-wide sandy beach is a slowly migrating sandbank that covers approximately 10 square kilometers, resembling a slice of desert along the North Sea. The name comes from the Öömrang word "kniap" meaning "pinch," as the fine sand allegedly pinched bathers.

With its vast expanse of fine white sand and crystal-clear water, Kniepsand offers visitors plenty of space and magical tranquility, making it one of Germany's most impressive and least crowded beaches. The beach serves as natural protection for the island during storm surges and provides sand for the adjacent dune system, though regular winter storms wash over it and remove summer dunes.

Visitors can relax on the beach, enjoy long walks through the dune landscape with wooden boardwalks, build creative sandcastles and wooden art from beach driftwood, or even use a large hammock near the Norddorf lighthouse.
