Koeth-Wanscheidsches Schloss (Dirmstein)
Dirmstein, Germany, Germany
Koeth-Wanscheidsches Schloss in Dirmstein, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, is a grand Baroque-Classical manor house built between 1715-1718 after the previous structure was destroyed during the 1689 War of the Palatine Succession.
Originally owned by Wolfgang Wilhelm von Rießmann and later figures like the Haumüller family and Pfalz officer Georg August Heinrich von Kinckel, it escaped French Revolutionary confiscation through diplomatic transfer to Dutch admiral Heinrich August von Kinckel.
The symmetrical complex features a central main building with side wings framing a courtyard, an English landscape park with artificial hills and a grotto, and 18th-century interiors divided into representative salons and private apartments; since 2015, it houses a psychiatric clinic while retaining protected cultural status.
