Königshaus am Schachen is a small mountain villa located near Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Bavaria, Germany, built between 1869 and 1872 for King Ludwig II of Bavaria. Perched at an altitude of 1,866 meters in the Wetterstein mountains, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Alps, including the Zugspitze, Germany's highest peak.

Though often called a hunting lodge, Ludwig II did not use it for hunting but rather for celebrating his birthday and anniversaries. The building's exterior resembles a modest Swiss chalet, typical of 19th-century aristocratic vacation homes, while its interior features an extraordinary "Turkish Hall" on the upper floor.

This hall, richly decorated in an Oriental style with gilded walls, stained glass windows, embroidered textiles, and a central fountain, reflects Ludwig's fascination with Eastern cultures. The villa is accessible only by a strenuous hike of about six to seven hours, emphasizing its remote and serene location. In 2025, Königshaus am Schachen was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, joining Ludwig II's other famous palaces and underscoring its cultural and historical significance in Bavaria and Germany.
