Kransberg Castle
Usingen, Germany, Germany
Kransberg Castle is a medieval hill castle perched on a steep rock in Kransberg, now part of Usingen in Hesse's Hochtaunus district, Germany, about 40 km north of Frankfurt amid the Taunus mountains.
Originally built around 1170 on 11th-century fortifications and first documented under Erwinus de Cranichesberc in 1250, it passed to Duke Philipp IV von Falkenstein in 1310 before neo-Gothic reconstruction by Baron Arnold von Biegeleben in 1874.
During WWII it served as the "Adlerhorst" headquarters with bunkers, later hosting Cold War intelligence before reverting to private use for weddings, classical concerts, and events under current owner Sebahattin Özkan.
