The Laongo Sculpture Symposium, located in Laongo near Ziniaré in Burkina Faso’s Plateau-Central Region, is a unique open-air art site where massive granite boulders have been transformed into sculptures by artists from Burkina Faso and around the world.

Founded in 1989 by Burkinabé sculptor Siriky Ky, the symposium is held regularly and invites artists to create works directly on the natural granite landscape. The site has grown into a vast outdoor museum featuring hundreds of sculptures that blend African traditions, contemporary artistic expression, and cultural themes.

Visitors can walk among the artworks, observe how art and nature interact, and appreciate creations carved directly into the rocky terrain. Today, the Laongo Sculpture Symposium is one of Burkina Faso’s most distinctive cultural attractions, celebrated for promoting artistic exchange, preserving creativity, and showcasing monumental stone sculptures in a striking natural setting.
