Lingnerschloss
Dresden, Germany, Germany
Lingnerschloss is a neoclassical villa built between 1850 and 1853 on Dresden's Loschwitz hillside overlooking the Elbe River, Germany, originally as Villa Stockhausen for Baron von Stockhausen, chamberlain to Prussian Prince Albrecht.
Designed by Berlin architect Adolph Lohse in the style of Karl Friedrich Schinkel with symmetrical facades, columned wings, octagonal pavilions, and expansive terraced gardens by Eduard Neide, it later passed to industrialist Bruno Naumann and then "Odol king" Karl August Lingner, who expanded it around 1908 under Wilhelm Kreis with an orangerie and organ hall.
Bequeathed to the city in 1916 as a public recreation site "not just for the rich," it served as a casino, hospital, and cultural club before restoration, now offering panoramic views, exhibitions, concerts, and a terrace café.
