Linz, Austria, Austria
Linz Botanical Garden (Botanischer Garten Linz) is located on the "Gugl" in Linz, Upper Austria, and is considered among the most beautiful botanical gardens in Europe.
The garden spans 4.2 hectares (42,000-43,000 square meters) and showcases over 10,000 various plant species, including an internationally significant collection of cacti—one of the finest in Europe—displayed across five greenhouses where exotic specimens predominate.
The garden's unique design groups plants in complete landscapes according to their natural conditions, allowing visitors to imagine they are immersed in the plants' natural habitats, while special attractions include the serene Rosarium (rose garden), the multicolored Alpinum featuring alpine flowers, and the flamboyant Tropic House with exotic floral gems.
The garden is open daily except Mondays (unless on public holidays), with outdoor hours varying seasonally from 9 am-4 pm in winter months to 9 am-7 pm in April-September, while greenhouses follow similar hours but close at 5 pm from March-October. Admission costs €4.10 for adults and €3 for children, with reduced prices of €3 for adults and €1.10 for children when using the Linz Card, and the garden is accessible via bus number 27 from Taubenmarkt station which runs every 15 minutes directly to the garden.
Special exhibitions, Word & Sound concerts, workshops, lectures, garden practice courses, and guided tours are offered throughout the year, including current 2026 exhibitions like "Spice Odyssey" about chili peppers and "Pioneers of Life" exploring plant evolution.
