Lykkesholm Castle
Ørbæk, Denmark, Denmark
Lykkesholm Castle is a picturesque yellow manor house on Funen island near Ørbæk, Denmark, first documented as Magelund in 1329 and renamed Lykkesholm by 1380.
The current three-winged main building dates to around 1600, designed by architect Domenicus Badiaz, with major remodelings in 1668 and 1784-1786 that gave it its distinctive late Baroque appearance amid a moat, lake, and forested valley.
Owned by the Sehested Juul family since 1914 and now functioning as an exclusive hotel with 28 double rooms, conference facilities, and a breeding farm, it hosted visits from Hans Christian Andersen and welcomes events like weddings in its historic setting 21 km southeast of Odense.
