Lyndale Park Gardens in Minneapolis, Minnesota, spans 61 acres and includes four main garden areas: the Peace Garden, Rose Garden, Perennial Garden, and Perennial Trial Garden.

The park was developed starting in 1906 under park superintendent Theodore Wirth, who created the first municipal rose garden in the United States in Hartford, Connecticut, before replicating this success at Lyndale Park, where the rose garden opened in 1908.

The gardens were designed to provide beauty, education, and inspiration, featuring thousands of plants in arranged beds, including a rock garden developed in 1929 with alpine plants and dolomite rocks, which was later transformed into the Peace Garden after being rediscovered and restored in the 1980s.

The Rose Garden alone contains over 3,000 rose bushes with many varieties and is a popular attraction with its scenic views overlooking Lake Harriet and a historic fountain imported from Italy. Lyndale Park continues to be a beloved destination for locals and visitors who value its horticultural diversity and historic landscapes.
