Lyon Arboretum is a 194-acre tropical rainforest botanical garden in Mānoa Valley, Honolulu, Hawaii, managed by the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and dedicated to conserving native plants and watersheds.
Established in 1918 by the Hawaiian Sugar Planters' Association under Dr. Harold L. Lyon for reforestation research, it features over 5,000 tropical species including rare Hawaiian endemics, ethnobotanical gardens, and trails leading to ʻAihualama Falls amid heavy annual rainfall.
Today it serves as an outdoor lab for education, research, and public tours, highlighting native ecosystems, canoe plants, and biodiversity hotspots like palms and gingers.
