Malakand View Point
Pakistan, Pakistan
Malakand View Point is a scenic hilltop viewpoint in the Malakand (Mala Kand) region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, located on or near the Malakand Road that connects Dargai to Bat Khela and other parts of the Swat Valley.
The site is best known for its panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, rolling hills, and valleys, with the Swat Canal visible in the plains below; the canal was built by the British to carry water from the Swat River through a tunnel under the Malakand Pass to the Mardan area. The viewpoint sits close to the top of the Malakand Pass, where on one side stands Malakand Fort guarding the road, and on the other side the road descends toward Bat Khela and the Swat River, making it a natural stopping point for travelers and tourists on the route between the eastern plains and the Swat–Dir–Chitral valleys.
It is accessible by car via the National Highway (N-45) and the Malakand Road, and local tips suggest visiting in the early morning or late afternoon for the most striking light and fewer crowds, and walking a short distance from the nearest drop-off point if taking public transport. The area is surrounded by lush green fields, poplar trees, and tobacco and sugar-cane cultivation, with the Hazarnau peak and other Malakand mountains forming a dramatic backdrop, so the view is both a visual highlight and a representative glimpse of the agricultural and mountainous landscape of the region.
